Creating a digital product swat team at Havas

The design team at Havas Health has been undergoing a rapid transformation to account for new business opportunities that have sprouted over the last few months. Tackling digital projects using the waterfall approach of traditional ad agencies was resulting in less than stellar products. Since changing the structure of a 200-person agency overnight is impossible, we created a digital swat team to handle new business.

Our team is made up of designers, developers, copywriters, strategists, and planners: with the goal of streamlining the creation of digital products. There are inherent roadblocks in changing the mentality of an entire agency, but introduction of new processes to willing clients has jump-started the swat team.

We transitioned the team to a prototype-first model; meaning clients no longer see flat design documents. This has led to better client feedback and faster internal turnaround. More collaboration and more prototypes mean better results for our clients and their patients. Additionally, since the pressure of editing psd layers is taken off of the designer's shoulders, they're free to explore more design directions.
